Caldwell Lake

We drove over to Scioto Trail State Park after work on Friday. Katie’s brother and his wife, whom we hadn’t seen for a while, live in the town of Waverly, which is close to the park. They came out that night and sat around the camp fire with us.

The park and campground are easy to get to. The campground itself is next to Caldwell Lake, which is small, peaceful and picturesque. There are kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats for rent, and a tiny swimming beach. Throughout the day folks would stop by for some leisurely fishing. There are lots of benches, some picnic tables and even a gazebo by the banks of the lake. In the early morning, beautiful mist rises from the water.
